Harriet Kamashanyu

Harriet is a young female social entrepreneur running an organization called Rhythm of Life (ROL) – www.rhythmoflifeuganda.com  that operates in the central region’s red light districts with an objective of holistic empowerment of commercial sex workers and their respective daughters through education, health accessibility and advocacy in breaking the vicious cycle of mother-to-daughter prostitution.

Earlier in 2015 as the Country Coordinator – Let Girls Lead, ran an advocacy campaign “Girls Voices Initiative” bringing together over 30 girls from all parts of Uganda. She was key in the developing, implementing and tracking the impact of the project. She was also liaising with the main office in Oakland – California USA serving as a focal point for all in-country activities in collaboration with US Fund and UNICEF country office staff in Uganda partnering with the Girls’ Voices’ Initiative. She was also key in the programme oversight of the Wisci Camp 2016 organized by Girl Up -UN Foundation as a lead facilitator in advocacy, overseeing the development of the training material, selection criteria, documenting and consolidating reports.
